Norway’s Utoya Camp and a Question

Utoya is a tiny island near Oslo, in the Tyrifjorden lake. The first element in the name “Utoya” is ut ‘out, outermost’; the last element is the finite form of oy, ‘island’. Utoya is the southernmost island in the lake of Tyrifjorden. The island is very small, near 11 hectares (26 acres), situated 500 metres (1,600 ft) off the shore, and is only about 40 kilometers from the north-west of Oslo city centre. The island is largely forested, with some open spaces.

A small pier on the east side of the island is used to ferry people to and from the mainland. There are also permanent buildings, that are located together near the dock. Up on the hillside are the main campgrounds, the cafeteria building, and the sanitary building. In fact, Utoya is a very beautiful and modern place. But it is owned by a political group, the Workers’ Youth League (AUF), the youth wing of the Labour Party, which holds an annual summer camp there. A political camp for the youth.

Utoya Island is beautiful, like other parts of Norway. Throughout Norway, one will find stunning and dramatic scenery and landscape. The west coast of southern Norway and the coast of northern Norway present some of the most visually impressive coastal sceneries in the world. But why did they have a political camp for kids in this beautiful place? The stupid Glenn Beck, the rightwing US broadcaster and Tea Party favorite, has compared the youth camp to the Nazi party’s youth wing. He said: “who does a camp for kids? that’s all about politics.”

Beck and his comments are cheap, but the question about a political camp for kids, is a very serious and important question. Kids, 18- , should not be brainwashed. It’s very important. The political and religious groups must be banned from working with kids, that means brainwashing kids The kids are innocent and immature. They should learn life skills and basic & general skills (language, science, literature, arts, etc) instead of being brainwashed. Some say: “The kids can read about everything, even religion and politic, if they, themselves, want to do that. But the political and religious groups must be banned from teaching or directing them, i.e. brainwashing them.”

Some say: “Beck’s latest comments about the “disturbing” nature of political youth camps may come as a surprise to Beck’s followers in the Tea Party movement. The anti-tax, anti-immigration movement has been holding summer camps in states including Florida and Missouri where children have been taught a curriculum based on religion/ideology”. Glenn Beck can be full of shit, it’s not important, but the fact that the political/religious kids camp is a very dangerous thing, is very important. In the Middle East, and many other regions, the innocent kids are brainwashed by the fanatics and extremists and are prepared for being a human monster or a biased bigot. Some say: “Leave alone the kids. Stop brainwashing the kids in almost all other countries of the world”

As you know, on a per-capita basis, Norway is the world’s largest producer of oil and natural gas outside of the Middle East. In 1969, the Norwegians discovered petroleum resources at the west of Norway. In 1973, the Norwegian government founded the State oil company, Statoil. So, Norway that has a very small population (near 5 million) is a very rich country. The country maintains a Nordic welfare model with universal health care, subsidized higher education, and a comprehensive social security system. From 2001 to 2007, and then again in 2009 and 2010, Norway had the highest human development index ranking in the world. But why their stupid politicians try to brainwash the kids?

In all around the world, the political and religious things must be removed form the kids’ curriculum (kids = 18-).
